Refractive Surgery or Lasik Treatment in Mumbai
What is LASIK eye treatment?
‘LASIK’ which stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis, is a popular eye surgery which can correct blurry vision in people with myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.
During LASIK surgery, a highly specialized laser is utilized which precisely reshapes the front transparent part of eye called cornea, so that light focuses on back part of eye called retina, resulting in clear vision without using any glasses or contact lenses.
LASIK is completely painless and requires only 10-15 minutes to treat both eyes.
Is LASIK right for me to get rid of glasses?
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for LASIK eye surgery.
Conditions where LASIK should NOT be done as a treatment include:
- Patients younger than 18 years of age
- If pregnant or nursing
- Unstable/changing glass power in last one year
- Very thin cornea and corneal diseases like Keratoconus
- Severe dry eye
To determine whether you are a right candidate for LASIK, your ophthalmologist will thoroughly examine your eyes and may conduct few tests to place you in the safest category.
